When Rachel Vanoven plans a workshop in your town, you know you just have to be there!!! So when I heard Rachel was headed to Melbourne for a Newborn Photography Workshop I knew I just had to be there!! I've been following Rachel on Facebook and Instagram forever and to think she was coming all that way to teach here in Melbourne, well I knew it wasn't going to happen again any time soon!
I love Rachel's work, not just her newborn work but all of her work, she is an extremely talented photographer and always manages to portray the emotion of the moment through her photographs. Not only is she a great photographer though, she is a wonderfully generous person too, who goes out of her way to help others along their photography journey. She is open and honest and real and that is why she has so many followers worldwide.
The workshop was a one day workshop and I was really surprised by just how many poses
and set-ups we were able to achieve in the one day!
The photographs below are mine, however, the styling, props and posing are all Rachel's.
At the end of the day we even managed to squeeze in an impromptu outdoor sunset session with a newborn and a local family at a gorgeous horse stable just outside of Melbourne! So we basically workshopped from about 9am til 8pm!
And of course, it could only happen to Rachel, a mob of kangaroos appeared in the background of her
family portrait shoot! I've lived in Melbourne for 36 years and it's never happened to me!
What else would you do if you were Rachel and Anne but hop on out there and try to blend in!
Now because Rachel is so awesome and genuinely keen to help others, she invited me to come and 'assist' with the workshop that she was running the next day. So off I went for a whole other day of learning, aka assisting!
We also hung out and did a bit of sight seeing while Rachel and her gorgeous assistant Anne were here!
We headed to the Ballarat Wildlife Park to see the koalas and kangaroos and we also went to the Victoria market to try Melbourne's best hot jam doughnuts!! We also checked out some of the graffiti lane ways Melbourne is famous for and we ate and ate and ate!!
Check out our adventures below!
Oh and one last thing … I miss you guys … wahhhhhhhh!!!
